Stop Managing Life Around Anxiety
DISCOVER PEACE
Building self-compassion and fulfillment.
I help creative, high-achieving people live fully without worry and shame.
My clients face challenges much like yours. Despite being motivated, hardworking, and caring, life is hard.
When they first come to therapy, my clients are playing re-runs of past mistakes in their heads, feeling overwhelmed by guilt and shame. They define themselves and their capabilities by these (very human) fumbles.
Over-committed and feeling like they are always falling short, they look in the mirror and are never satisfied with who they see. It feels impossible to juggle all that life throws at them. They want to be a better friend, family member, and self. They are their own worst critics and can’t fully accept compliments. They feel like they are failing even when others point out their successes. And their confidence is tanking.
When they first come to therapy, my clients judge their lives, self-worth, and achievements by someone else’s standards. All the positive feedback, good grades, and compliments in the world aren’t enough to help them truly believe in themselves. They have panic attacks and restless nights trying to keep on top of everything. They are afraid they will never be good enough and worry that if they love and accept themselves for who they are, they’ll never reach the ideal.
They look at health practices like mindfulness, meditation, and rest and think, "Pffft, my body can't do that.”
They are kind, caring people who struggle to show that same kindness to themselves.
Living with perfectionism and anxiety is exhausting. Being vulnerable with yourself and others is a challenge. Feeling responsible for the emotions of everyone in your world is impossible and draining. Starting therapy might even seem like admitting a failure.
I get it. Deeply. And I know how to help you get past this stuck point.
We can collaborate to put you in touch with feeling content and capable.
Peace and calm are worth pursuing.
You are worth the effort it takes to believe you are good enough, regardless.
If you want to ditch perfectionism and enjoy your life and yourself for who you are, I would love to help you get there.
Schedule an initial phone call to start therapy in Pennsylvania or California today. You do not have to suffer. I can help.

Why call the practice Oak Grove Counseling?
Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine.
There are many ways to interpret the meaning of the seanfhocail (traditional quote) above, from Irish. My favorite is:
In the shelter of one another, we thrive.
You can choose your own meaning: the quote also translates to ‘people live in the shadows of one another,’ ‘we shelter one another from challenges,’ and ‘we rely on each other.’ Céile (it gets the ‘h’ from lenition) is about nature, trees, and weather. Like oak trees, people are strong, resilient, and wise enough to grow on our own. And, like oak trees, sometimes what helps us thrive is the space another person provides, giving us an opportunity to pause, look around, and decide who we want to become.
